Your Audiologist 

My name is Clare Heaviside and I qualified as an audiologist over 30 years ago. I’ve always loved my job and really enjoy helping people to understand and treat their hearing loss. Having worked predominately for the NHS, I took time out to work as a specialist audiologist for a leading hearing aid manufacturer, and then as a rehabilitation manager for a adult hearing loss charity. Despite these great opportunities which broadened my horizons, I missed spending time with patients in the clinic daily, and so returned to NHS audiology. However, with my new knowledge and understanding I quickly became frustrated and wanted to do more for my patients than the NHS system would allow.  

Harborough Hearing Care opened its doors in 2019 and was born out of a passion to provide a higher-level of service and better-quality hearing devices than the NHS could supply. Now I understand how much wonderful technology is out there, which can really improve a person’s ability to hear clearly and comfortably in background noise, I want to be able to share it.  

It’s not just about the technology, it’s also about the service. Having the time and experience to help people with hearing loss make informed decisions about what is right for them, is key to the success of hearing aid use. Over the years I have found ways of explaining things in a way that people can easily understand, something which I know has been greatly appreciated. I always spend the time and take care to make sure that the hearing aids really are the fitted the best they can possibly be.   

I have a lot to thank the NHS for, including my training and continued experience in wax removal. I trained some 18 years ago under the care of ENT services at The Leicester Royal Infirmary. I love being able to offer the wax removal service in the comfort and safety of the clinic, as it makes for a very satisfying part of my day.
