Dear Clare 

Tonight, for the first time in the last 5 years, I spent 2-3 hours having a  one on one conversation with my father. There are many reasons why we’ve not had a chance to sit and just talk for these past years but one main reason has been his poor hearing.

I left home when I was 14 and since then have seen my parents very little compared to many other people.

Over the past 5 years the deafness has increasingly made my dad go into a shell, becoming quiet and even asking people to write down what they want to say to him rather than actually speaking to him.

Tonight however, I got my old dad back and I could see life seep back into him once again as we talked freely and comfortably about life, this and that as we used to when I was much younger. 

Money can buy many things Clare but the feeling I have tonight of having connected with my father one more time before he leaves this Earth , is priceless. Without your help this week, this connection between a father and a son would not have happened. You gave me my dad back!

Out to lunch with a couple we met at the Memory club . They were raving about the service they had had today at Archway Health . Paul has been so depressed about his hearing and had no help whatsoever from the NHS but said the lady he saw was fantastic . Honestly the difference in him was miraculous, he has felt so isolated and obviously having dementia makes it even harder for him . He was thrilled that she had sorted his ears and hearing aids , with the promise of seeing him whenever he needed her . I hope the lady realises the joy she has given him – and the difference it made to our lunch today . Be sure to pass on the praise.

As I now officially have substantial hearing loss in one ear, I was trepidatious of whether my hearing could be restored in some way, and how a hearing aid might feel in my ear. My nerves were a complete waste of energy. Clare is the MOST professional, caring, knowledgable expert at tools that will restore hearing if this is possible. I received incredibly clear explanations. Clare knew exactly the hearing aid that would suit me best and then (most brilliantly) loaned me an aid to trial for a fortnight. WOW.

The whole experience was made so easy, no stress, no pressure to buy, just encouragement and a genuine sense that she only wanted the best solution specifically for me. Such a pleasure to have such a professional at my side as I now enter the world of being hard of hearing – but no longer thanks to Claire. Much appreciation and thanks.

This is just a line to thank you for the procedure to clear my ears yesterday. I am delighted to have normal operation of my hearing restored and feel so much more ‘alive’. It is akin to have a weight removed off my shoulders!

Periodically I need wax removing from my ears and decided a while ago to try micro suction by another provider and was disappointed to be told it wasn’t suitable for my ears. With the unavailability of ear syringing during the Covid pandemic I was getting a bit desperate and decided to seek a second opinion re micro suction. Having met Clare through the NHS I felt confident in seeking her opinion and was absolutely delighted to find that she had the expertise, confidence and the equipment to successfully micro suction the wax out of both my ears. Not only that, but I was fortunate to have the appointment within 24 hours of requesting one, and at a price that is well worth it considering the hassle you sometimes get on the NHS. I would not hesitate to recommend Clare as a true professional with a genuine desire to help if she can.

I unfortunately developed Vestibular Neuritus, a viral infection that affected my balance. I originally developed tinnitus in my right ear, which went away after having a dewax, but I also deveoped it in my left ear which didn’t go away. On top of this, I lost part of the range of my hearing. To combat this, the treating professor asked me to consider a hearing aid and I was referred to Clare Heaviside. The meetings were not only very pleasant due to the ability of Clare to create an easy-going atmosphere, but were also informative and professional. I was completely unaware of the range of abilities of a hearing aid. Mine included an anti-tinnitus noise but there are also many other options too. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone in a position to need a hearing aid to go to her. She also offers a try-before-you-buy on the hearing aid which I found invaluable in making sure that the unit performs as needed.

I visited the hearing clinic for an insurance claim, I found Clare very friendly, she explained everything in great detail and was very professional from start to finish. I would recommend her services.

I recently had a consultation with Clare and was highly impressed with her professional approach. She carried out a thorough hearing test and explained very clearly the type of hearing loss I was experiencing. She advised in an honest way the best way forward and which type of hearing aids would be the most benefit to me.
