Pre-consultations by telephone or in person, with an Audiologist, are available if would like to find out more about any of the services we offer.
It is also recommended that you book a pre-consultation appointment if you are unsure whether you have earwax. If you book a full 45-minute wax removal appointment you will be charged for the appointment, even if there is no wax present.
If you would like to discuss custom made noise protection, swim plugs or sleep plugs. We can often take impressions at a pre-consultation appointment.
Microsuction for Wax removal (up to 45 minutes) £68.00
Safe, gentle, effective removal of wax using microsuction or irrigation (syringing). Microsuction involves gently sucking excessive earwax from the ear canal using a fine tube attached to a suction unit. It is clean, safe and quick and usually a more comfortable experience than other methods of earwax removal. We also offer irrigation which involves gently running water into the ear canal to flush out the wax. You can decide along with you audiologist on the day which method is preferred.
Important information about charges for wax removal appointments.
Please book a free pre-consultation if you are unsure whether wax is present, as the appointment will still be charged at the full rate even if there is no wax present. If you have chosen not to attend a pre-consultation and you do not have excessive wax, you will be offered the option of a full hearing assessment in place of the wax removal.
You must use olive oil for at least 2-3 days prior to the appointment to soften the wax. If the wax cannot be removed because oil has not been used, then the appointment will still be charged. Please complete a ‘consent to treat’ form prior to your appointment. This will be emailed to you, or a paper copy will be available at reception.
Please give us 24 hours’ notice of you are unable to attend an appointment, otherwise you will still be charged.
Hearing Test only (up to 30 minutes) £38.00
Pure Tone Audiometry for those looking for a base-line hearing test for personal information or for an employer
We will take a brief medical history and provide you with a printed copy of your hearing test result.
(Important note – this will not be classified as a medical report).
Hearing Assessment for those considering hearing aids (up to 90 minutes) £79.00
A full audiological history, a Pure Tone Audiogram to assess the level of your hearing thresholds, a speech test to measure your ability to perceive and understand speech clearly, especially in noise.
You will receive a full explanation of your test results and a copy of the test to take away. This will help you and those closest to you, to understand how any hearing loss may be impacting on your quality of life.
If appropriate, we will demonstrate a range of suitable hearing devices and explain their features and benefits. This will help you make an informed choice should you require hearing aids.
If you would like a no obligation home trial, we can program some loan hearing devices for you to take away on the day (subject to availability).
A follow up appointment will be arranged for you to return the loan devices and discuss your experience (this is included in the cost of the assessment).
Hearing Aid Reassessment (up to 60 minutes) £68.00
If you feel that your hearing has changed since purchasing your hearing devices, or you would like some of the features on your current devices changing. We will retest your hearing and re-program your hearing system accordingly. If you have purchased your aids elsewhere then you will need to book a hearing aid transfer consultation appointment first.
*Please note that this service is included free of charge at the end of year 2 if your hearing aids are still under warranty and were purchased from Harborough Hearing Care.
Follow-up (up to 30 minutes) £38.00
If you do not need your hearing tested and would like any other adjustments to your hearing devices, or to discuss any issues that you are experiencing.
Servicing and repair of all makes and models of hearing systems. Even if you have purchased your hearing system from elsewhere, we may still be able to access the warranty for you (unless is it an own brand such as Specsavers). There will be an additional charge for any parts replaced.
For any major repairs that are out of warranty, we will always ask the manufacturer to provide you with a quote first.
Hearing Aid Transfer Consultation (Up to 90 minutes) £135.00
If you have purchased your hearing devices elsewhere and would like to transfer your aftercare, can we help. Providing the aids are not an ‘own brand’ such as the Advanced range from Specsavers, we can transfer any existing data from a working aid. We would need to take a medical history and test your hearing to make sure that all your settings are up to date. We may also be able to access any remaining manufacturer’s warranty on your behalf. With your permission we can also contact other dispensers to ask for information about you.
Any further follow up or reassessment appointments would then be charged at the standard rate.
Custom-made Noise Plugs –
Impression Taking Only £40
For custom made earmoulds manufactured elsewhere, we offer a local impression taking service. Your ears must be entirely wax free for the procedure. If you also require wax removal, this will be charged separately. We will supply a clean impression of each ear, ready for you to forward on to your chosen supplier.
